In my first podcast episode, I tackle Progressive Christianity—what is it? What do Progressive Christians believe, and how do those beliefs interact with and intersect with Traditional Christianity?

Thank you Alisa, I came across your blog a few weeks ago and I feel you are describing my church in the north west suburbs of Chicago. They had Anne Lamott teach from the stage and a few other things are bothering me. So we are looking for another. May God bless you,

Excellent podcast. It is so difficult today to find a church that teaches the Bible.

I am really thankful that you shared this! As a college student I have been unwittingly encountering progressive christianity and it has really taken me for a spin. I really needed this way to understand what I've been encountering.

Thank you! This was an inspiring, Bible-based analysis of a very serious issue. I forwarded your article to my pastor and he resonated with your insights and arguments. I also noticed that this "Progressive" Christianity is nothing but a stew of old theological heresies. You refuted it by going back to the Bible, the early church theologians, the reformer Martin Luther and Machen! There's nothing new under the sun nor is there anything "progressive" about Progressive Christianity. It is neither progressive nor Christian. Can't wait for the next podcast.

Thank you, thank you...I just read an Sojourners portraying a political candidate as an Evangelical who is both pro LGTG and an abortion supporter and I didn't know how to respond to this. The article perfectly fits what Sojourners and others are doing.

Alisa, I hope you will continue doing podcasts on this very topic. Your approach is first of all so Biblically and theologically spot-on, and additionally you address head on some of the most modern-day progressive writers (like Brian McLaren) which other theologically solid thinkers tend to do less of (e.g. John Piper). There may be many Bible-believing Christians still, but few who have as deep a grasp on undergirding philosophies as you do. I would love to hear more podcasts from you that specifically address other modern professing Christians who either have or threaten to run off the theological rails, such as Pete Enns, JD Crossan and Rachel Held Evans. It might gain you a lot of opposition, but truth has a way of doing just that in our fallen world.

Hi Brad, thanks for your comment. The Machen quotes are from his book, "Christianity & Liberalism." The Brian McLaren quote I used is from his book, "A New Kind of Christianity," and the John Pavlovitz article I cited can be found here: http://johnpavlovitz.com/2016/10/05/explaining-progressive-christianity-otherwise-known-as-christianity/ I can't remember if I cited anyone else, but if I left something out, please let me know, and I'll find the source. Thanks!

A friend sent me a link to your podcast after they heard your interview on BadChristian. So within the past two hours I've read your articles, realized you were in ZOEgirl and flipped out about it, and listened to this podcast and your interview on BadChristian. I am SUCH a fan now. Please continue doing podcasts and speaking the truth from such a Biblical and grace-filled approach.

Good words! I have always been suspicious of "progressive Christianity." I liken it to carbon monoxide in the Church. We truly need to be equipped to defend the faith (Jude 3). I visited Seattle and went inside the Space Needle. I was told that it could withstand earthquakes up to 9.1. And so in the church we need a faith that can withstand "earthquakes."

Hello Alisa! I am so glad I have found you! As Ravi was stepping down from his speaking engagements I have been keeping my ears open to an apologist that I felt a connection with and here you are! I appreciate we have daughters the same age - 12 this year. Do you already have a podcast that talks more about books/curriculum to read with your child that helps them think and construct their own biblical world view? I also have three other daughters 8, 6, 2 and I'd like to pull them in on this conversation if you think its wise.
